Got a great review of our latest EP "Somebody's Baby" from Punk Rock Mag in Costa Rica!!!
you can check it out here:
Yo, if you’re into that raw, gritty, no-frills punk straight from the grimy streets of New York, SKISM just dropped their new EP “Somebody’s Baby,” and it’s a rager. These guys are unapologetically antisocial, filled with angst, and straight-up hyperactive. You can hear every bit of that attitude in their sound—screaming vocals, fast guitars, and relentless drums. Think old-school punk, hardcore, and Oi all slammed into one, with a lineup that’s seen some heavy hitters from The Krays, American Eagle, WRENCH, and Mad Mulligans. The EP’s got nine tracks, and some are reworks of classic SKISM jams, but with a fresh, gnarlier bite.
Let’s talk about some of these tracks. “Trying to Get On” is pure frustration bottled up and exploded through your speakers. The lyrics hit hard, talking about feeling blocked and held down at every turn. It’s that punk rock mantra—life’s a grind, and there’s always someone in your way, but you keep pushing through. You can feel that energy in the chorus: “Get out of the way, yea you! I’m trying to get on!” Classic anthem for anyone tired of the bullshit.
Then there’s “Somebody’s Baby,” and yo, this one’s got that perfect mix of sneer and swagger. It’s about this tough-as-nails chick in combat boots, plaid skirts, and red suspenders who’ll straight up steal your heart while crushing you at the same time. The track’s got that fast, dirty rhythm that makes you wanna stomp around in the pit, but it’s also got a vibe that just screams New York attitude. You’re screwed from the start, man—she’ll lift you up just to tear you apart.
And don’t even get me started on “U.S. Nazis Fuck Off and Die.” This is SKISM in full battle mode, calling out all the hate-mongers and racists. No subtlety, just pure aggression aimed right where it belongs. Lines like “Fascists following his tiny knob” just put the boot to the face of those clowns trying to ruin the scene. You can tell this one’s personal, and SKISM ain’t pulling punches.
SKISM is doing what they do best—fast, furious, and flipping off anyone who gets in their way. If you’re looking for something with bite, attitude, and that old-school punk sound with a modern twist, you can’t miss this one.
SKISM says it best: “We’re just trying to get on, so get the hell out of the way.”
