3/29/2021 - Skism Review From Faceplant Media
There's a certain formula left behind by punk bands of the 70s and 80s which is fast power chord driven guitars, fast pounding yet simple drums and angry, gritty vocals.
This formula rings true with Skism's latest effort and while those of you who are used to major label punk bands might find some flaws with this, which I have to call out in the fairness of giving a truthful review, the levels of the mix aren't the best and some vocal parts seem off time - but without that you wouldn't have the DIY punk release that sits before you.
That aside, you have a great blend of old school punk genres blended between songs without things feeling stale, I get reminded of bands like Agent Orange, Misfits and Rancid with this release and found it to be overall enjoyable.
This release is definitely for the DIY underground punk fans but offers something for most fans, and it sounds like a typical soundtrack to BMX and Skateboard culture which is never a bad thing.
